The good news for today's petite Woman is the advent of the Internet and online shopping. The Internet has allowed some online shoe retailers to become much larger than any traditional brick and mortar shoe store could ever dream of. These retailers have such significant buying power, resources and world wide audience that stocking Women's shoes in size 5 and smaller is not only profitable but actually makes very good business sense.
As more and more Women began buying these small sizes online they got the attention of designers and manufactures who in turn began offering more and more styles and patterns in Women's sizes 5 and smaller. While shopping for shoes online does have some drawbacks, at least, for the first time these sizes were available to any Woman with a computer and an Internet connection.
In February of 2000 I was working in our family shoe store and we saw the need for an online shoe store that catered to the Woman with a smaller shoe size. I began contacting manufactures that we had relationships with in our more than 50 years in the shoe industry. I was very surprised to find that there were almost no shoe manufacturer's that even had the tools to manufacture Women's shoes in anything smaller than a size 5. Just like the retailers, the perceived demand for these sizes appeared to be so small that the investment in the required tooling to manufacture these sizes just did not make good business sense. We pushed ahead anyway with the few manufacturers we could find and created Petitefeet.com. In the first years we ran the website out of our small northern California shoe store. The response to the website was tremendous but we were constantly asked if we could provide more styles in sizes smaller than a Woman's size 5. We took this information to the manufacturers we had relationships with but we did not have the buying power needed to convince these company's to invest precious capitol to manufacture these sizes.
It was about this time that a company called zappos.com
was just starting to set it's self apart from other online shoe retailers. It turns out that zappos.com
was having some success where we had failed. They were able to offer a far larger selection of Women's shoes in size 5 and smaller than we ever could from our small family shoe store. In addition zappos.com
had the infrastructure to better serve our customers with shipping, returns and customer support. For this reason we decided to form a partnership with zappos.com
to provide our customers with the best selection of shoes available, competitive pricing and outstanding customer service.
Over the years we have partnered with other large online shoe stores like Shoebuy.com
, endless.com and others to continue providing the largest selection of Women's shoes in small and petite sizes, at the best prices available online. Today, Petitefeet.com is a respected partner of some of the largest and most respected online shoe and clothing retailers on the Internet. We are constantly looking for new resources and company's to be able to offer our customers the very best possible online shopping experience. Most of our partner company's offer free shipping and free return shipping along with flexable return polices and a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee.
Petitefeet.com has enjoyed the last 11 years of providing our valued customers with the kind of selection, price and customer service they have come to expect from us and look forward to many more years of helping you, our loyal customers with all your footwear needs. Thank you for 11 great years!
